lit clock insert

I want to make a small say 3 inch clock, but it's for a dark area, anybody know of a clock insert that has a light in it?

I don't know if they'll have what your looking for. They're easy to work with and have a large inventory.

If no one manufactures what you seek, it might be an opportunity for some ingenuity and originality. LEDs are amazing, and possibly some fiber optics to create a clock that not only lights up, but could even change colors. Just thinking out loud of the top of my head.

I'd expect that what you'd need for a lighted dial is one that runs on 120v. A battery likely would run down too quickly to be very practical if the light was lit at all times, as most of those battery operated clocks run on a single AA battery.

Hmmm. What if you were to make the clock face out of a light veneer...like maple or something? Then you could light the inside of the clock case and it would produce a warm glow when illuminated.

Find an old one with a phosphorus face! Shine a light on it occasionally!:D

I think I am going with this suggestion:

A guy did that on SawmillCreek and it turned out really well. It wasn't a clock, just a light built into a bedside table. Of course he tricked it out with a computer processor to run a mini light show, but the concept of using LEDs behind a veneer worked and looked great.
