Shopsmith Mark V Home Workshop System which includes: 40 gallon Shop Vac Dust Collector, Table Saw, Band Saw, Jointer, and Jig Saw attachments, Extension Tables, Variety of Blades, Lathe Tools, Books, and Misc. Accessories.
Asking price is $850, is that about right or a little high?

If you have the cash and can transport it, that's a reasonable price.
setups like that are going for better than $1000 here in CA.
May want to see if they'll take $750 and haggle a bit depending on condition etc.

After looking at the kc,mo CL I would say it is not over priced! There are a lot of them listed! Didn't see yours for $850.

It must be a game that we all play. No one seems willing to pay the asking price even if it is reasonable. Eight hundred and fifty dollars for that combination of equipments could be an absolute steal (depending on condition).

A lot of it depends on your area of the country. In NM good shopsmiths are rare on craigslist, and for a similar price you would get a basic 500 with maybe a Bandsaw and Jointer. If I saw the one you described on Craigslist here I would say it is a GREAT deal. It all depends on what you can normally find in your area.

The last time we looked at one. The gentleman claimed it had just been serviced. I asked how it was serviced and he knew all the right answers. When we turned it on and ran it through the speeds I discovered noises that should not have been there and we explained that due to the noise we were not interested. We loaded it into the truck after he offered it for half the price. Never hurts to try for a a lower price. Jim
