Disc sander paper on both sides?

I saw a sanding disc with sandpaper on both sides of the disk on Ebay. Has anyone ever done this? I guess if you had the disc in the slot of your table you could sand a slot in a piece of wood or something like that.

It would let you put two different grits on the disc at the same time. 3 if you play the game with the center and the rim of the normal disc face.

Was it flat on both sides? I think I read the original Mark VII came with a two sided disc -- flat one side and conical on the other. So maybe that's what you saw?

The older style discs are cast such that this wouldn't work. The newer style ones are flat plates and it will work fine. The conical disc is a whole different beast

True enough...I read that at some point and had forgotten.
However, I have yet to see one of those disks with any of the Mark VII units that I have come across. Unicorn perhaps?

I don't have the shopsmith version but I do have a version from sears purchased in the early 1970's that I used on my rockwell table saw, pre my shopsmith equipment.
I believe I have posted a picture of it here or at the other site (ssug) and someone then posted the shopsmith version... not sure if it worth a deep search or not??? Maybe if they read this they will post their information again?
