A group is recreating a poker table originally commissioned by President Truman for the battleship USS Iowa. Here they blog about it's history and their effort to recreate the table.

Awesome! By the way I love horizontal boring on the Shopsmith. I did a little job today, and afterwards recollected it would have been 10 times harder with any other tool.

I think I use it for horizontal boring as much as anything else. It's just too easy to throw something on the table, adjust the height and drill away. I resort to a benchtop drill press for small, one-offs, but prefer my SS's accuracy and visibility.

Hermit of the Hills Woodworks, a hillbilly in the foothills of the Ozarks, scraping by.
