I have changed out the belts one is the Gilmore belt and I am down to reinstalling the Gilmore sheave and cannot get the sheave back through the headstoock with belt on. The speed control on the inside is in the way. Is there another way to do this?

You have discovered why the idler shaft with idler sheave attached is removed and inserted from the in side of the headstock. The belt must be in place when the main shaft is inserted also.

Dropping the motor gives you way more room? Especially with NO access hole! Also as you have noticed, the pork chop etc. is in the way.

Sequence is main shaft through belt and both bores, idler shaft inserted through belt and then the idler shaft bore, then the eccentric etc.

The control sheave can be placed on the idler shaft now.

Speed control next and finally the motor and pan.

All the while aligning things as you go.
