What is JPW

I recently saw a post that mentioned something called JPW to lubricate the way tubes.

Does anyone know what this is and whether it is better than Minwax? Also, where can I get it?

My old can of Minwax is over ten years old and almost empty.

The can looks to be for the right stuff. You want it to be the "Original" formula - so I have been told.

I buy mine at ACE. Hmmm, if I bought another can now while it is available then the great grandkids will have it when they need it. I am just now using the end of can #2 after twenty years. Got one new can on the shelf.

Thanks, I should have known that "JPW" was Johnson's Past Wax. I thought JPW stood for some kind of exotic, high-tech stuff.

I remember when i was growing up, we always JPW in the house. I think it was even available in the grocery store.

Now the only question is whether I should get more Minwax or the JPW.---Does one seem better than the other for use on the Shopsmith?

I use Minwax finishing wax. At the time JPW could not be found...

I've never had a negative issue with the minwax.

I've used Minwax Finishing Wax for years on the Shopsmith without any issues, but that may change as the Minwax has gone missing. While searching for it, I came across some Johnsons, so unless the Minwax turns up, I'll be using Johnsons for a while. I doubt if there's much difference though.

Lowe's and Home depot stocks it. Around here Lowe's was a couple bucks cheaper. Located in the cleaning section (Mops, brooms, Buckets etc....)
