Nice Job!
"... the was a man who could not be consoled from his sadness. One day, while he was walking in the woods, Woodpecker saw him and made some holes in a branch over the man's path. Wind blew over the holes and the branch sang. The man heard the song and became joyful for the sound. He took the branch home and played upon it, remembering how his sadness was turned to joy'.
In First Nations culture, a man would have a flute made for him, then go out on a journey and learn to make the sounds of nature. When he made a song that was his, he would return to the village. If he played his song so a certain maiden heard it, maybe her heart would turn to him.
Keep it up, you should try a recorder, it doesn't need a 'totem' (the bit tied on the top) to create the fipple.
