You wouldn't believe how much stuff I am finding during this move that I had forgotten about. Yesterday I found a nice reciprocating saw that I have no idea as to where it came from.
It was in the old woodshop part of the farm shop. I still have a lot of little stuff in there that I had never bothered to move to the shop that I am now moving out of.
I am really enjoying going down to the new basement shop to putter before daylight when I can't sleep. I also am quick (maybe too quick) to go do something down there instead of going outside on miserable weather days.
I just wish it was going faster but I am enjoying it and at this stage of my life that is the important thing... It's not the destination, it's the trip...

It has a lot of years on it but doesn't show much wear at all. It is badged under Van Camp Hardware & Iron of Indianapolis. They went out of business about 30 years ago. It kind of has a "Wen" look about it but I can't be sure who made it. I seem to recall buying it for $3 at a garage sale. It runs real nice but I wouldn't want to hunt parts for it. I keep really low cost duplicate tools like that for those that come borrowing.
I just spliced the power cord yesterday on a cheapie B&D hand held circle saw that a horse client borrowed and cut the cord in half. They had spliced it before returning it but the repair was, well, OK, pathetic...
This saw will need a plug on the cord. The cord is good and the plug should be but someone cut the grounding post off of it.

That reminds me. I borrowed a sawz-all from the brother in law a few years ago. I didn't like the condition of the cord:eek: , so I replaced it with a new one. Oh and give him back his old chewed up cord.

I remember a friend some years ago who told a story similar to yours. He did not however return the old cord until asked for it. The next time he saw the tool in question on it the original cut cord had been reinstalled. It was explained to him it still had life in it and would only be replaced when totally unworkable. My friend asked for the replacement cord back and lost a friend over it. Go figure. Jim

Do not try to understand irrational thinking and behavior. Just try to avoid it! Both 1st and second party!;)
