Has anyone modified a power stand to accept a standard Shopsmith power head?

I made a mistake, I should have asked about a power station? Sorry about the confusion.

I am sure you could modify and attach the power stand legs using angle brackets screwed to the headstock casing but you would be unable to attach or drive any SPT from the headstock. Maybe a sanding station? Why do all the extra work required when you can convert the Shopsmith to a MINI that would allow most SPTs to be mounted. I do not believe you would save much space comparing the the length of the Power Stand and the MINI.

I agree with Bil but maybe we need a question answered and an assumption confirmed.

The question: Why would you want to mount a headstock to a power stand?

Assumption Confirmed: You are contemplating a power stand and NOT a Power Station - right.

If you meant a Power Station, yes - that can be done. That is basically what a Crafters Station is. If you are thinking of a Crafters Station - we need to exchange more information. Doing this would not be a cake walk and is not likely to be completely satisfying. I have a Crafters Station but it functions almost exclusively as a Power Station.

A power stand is merely a small table that accepts an SPT stand and a motor.*

What would be gained by adding a headstock? The motor is under the table.

Like Dusty I am wondering if we be speaking a common language/using common terms/names.

Unless you don't ask all the right questions before bidding on something that comes without switch and/or motor. Ask me how I know. No don't ask!:o
