Thinking of getting the PSI chuck CSC2000C
http://www.amazon.com/PSI-CSC2000C-Barr ... 9N24W75752
I read with interest the post from PennView about the adapter from PSI.

Anyone else use the PSI adapter on a MarkV? Is there another adapter (Brand) that can be used on the PSI chuck?
Anyone use the PSI CSC2000C chuck on the Shopsmith?
UPDATE. Would this adapter be any better? I do not see what size the threaded send is.

If you go to the Penn State website, you'll see that the body of the CSC2000C is threaded 1" x 8 TPI. That means it will fit a lathe with that thread configuration on the spindle. You can mount it on the Shopsmith, but you MUST also buy the Penn State adapter, part #L5818 (the 1" x 8 TPI Shopsmith Spindle Adapter).
The Woodcraft adapter you referenced will not fit the Penn State chuck. Rather, it is a Nova adapter that is used to mount a Nova chuck on the Shopsmith spindle. The body of the Nova chuck is threaded 1 1/2" x 8 TPI.

I had both the chuck and the adapter. I liked the chuck very much and would still have it if I didn't acquire a couple of Stronghold chucks. The set screw in the PSI adapter is so-so. But I still have that in case I want to mount something with that thread on my Mark V.
You might call PSI and see what the chuck's internal thread specs are. That may give you a couple of other options from other manufacturers. I do like how the Stonghold adapter keeps the chuck closer to the headstock.

This is from the Penn State web site regarding the chuck in question: "Body thread 1" x 8tpi."

I have the Penn State Adapter, the Barracuda 2 chuck and the Penn State Collet chuck system. The adapter works for Scroll Chuck and the collett chuck I haven't had any issues in 2 months of use, Bowls up to 6" so far. I don't want to go nay larger until I find a speed reducer. The collet chuck is very nice and much more accurate for drilling provided your stock is round. I recommend these items.

I have since seen one on ebay selling for about $40 + S/H that could be an upgraded version???
I still have mine sitting a bottom drawer wait to be modified or tossed, I was to say the least unhappy with that purchase.
