Nova Live Center, your thoughts

Seeing today's e-mail ad for the Nova Live Center system, I was wondering if any of you have used it with the SS. I am currently using the SS live center that came with the original purchase. The price for the system seems appropriate, but is it worth it?
Thanks, Gary

I have no experience with the center, though it looks interesting. You might want to also look at
Tool King.

This is the set I own, and it is the result of some fair amount of research on my part. I am very happy with it. A lot of functionality comes in that box some of which will require you to become a bit more creative on your own as the information is sparse in the written materials.
The price seems high but then I have not looked of late so they could have gone up that much I guess...

Hi Guys;
I have been looking in the PSI catalog for awhile now at a very similar item. After buying the mandrel saver from PSI I am a little gun shy from buying anything with moving parts from them. I read the PDF article that SS referenced to in the advert and the system seems to be made very well. The three bearings stacked behind one another is a good design as per Bill Mayo's heavy duty quill system. So I popped for a set. It seems that shipping via USPS (Ultra Slow Postal Service) has not arrived at SS yet but we can always hope. I don't know if the set is too large for the flat rate boxes but we shall all find out soon.

I have the Nova one from Shopsmith and I love it, it has several features that I have not seen in other live centers. Last weekend I completed a Cold Stone Creamery style ice cream scoop and used the large reverse cup and a paper towel to securely hold one end (without damaging the finished curved end) while I used a wine stopper drive center to trim the scoop side. I had completed the whole thing and dyed the wood only to find out some of the wax used to preserve the wood was still on the top blocking the dye.
For those making wooden wine stoppers or other items with a 3/8" hole the wine stopper drive is a 3/8" hardened steel rod with teeth cut in one end. It works by inserting it into the 3/8" hole and applying pressure. It does not leave any visible marks on the work.
