I was digging around Google patent site and found an invention for a tilting arbor attachment for the Shopsmith. Dated 1956-1957.

I converted TS2424 10" 3 HP tilt arbor table saw to fit on the Shopsmith way tubes just like the thickness planer using the same mounts. This saw uses a 510 main table that allows the TS2424 Tilt arbor to align the blade correctly in the 510 table and allows the 510 table to align with the floating and extesion tables. The saw blade goes up and down and tilts with the main table in a fixed position. I disassembled it for painting and have not reassemblied it at this time. I plan to use this tilt arbor saw table as my main saw table once I sell my 10" 3 HP 8' main table professional table saw with upgraded fence. I used a jack shaft in place of the motor and used a pulley off the quill shaft to drive the jack shaft. I am using link belts for both drive belts. I plan to use a reverse motor to allow more options for the attached equipment. This will be my main Shopsmith along with an older Mark VII and 2 Gilmer Drive headstock Shopsmiths for dedicated tasks as my minimum setup. I may add more Shopsmiths if I find a need for them.

Bill, sounds like a neat conversion. When you get it reassembled, please post some pictures. In the mean time, can you clarify for me something regarding the tilting mechanism. As I understand it, the motor assembly rotates with the blade as it is tilted. How then to you handle this tilting action with a fixed pulley on the headstock spindle?
