New SS Mark V owner

Post by drclem1215 »

Over the weekend I came into possession of a 1984 Shopsmith Mark V. I spent all day Sunday hooking up and trying different configurations and after 24 hours of owning it I am a fan of Shopsmith tools. So, I’ve noticed other shopsmith owners on here and was wondering, what do I do next? It came to me 98% complete with band saw and jointer along with all the little parts for everything else. The router bits are still wax tipped from the factory almost 30 years ago. I am missing most of the guard pieces for the table saw and a coller to hold the handle for the drill press extender. (Please pardon my lack of proper terminology). I am planning on taking ti apart and cleaning everything as well as rubbing the bars with paste wax. Is there anything else I need to be aware of before I start really getting into this thing? Thanks.
