Bradman, please come back and tell us the kind of machine you have and if you're removed the belt cover. Don't let these jokes and teasers get to you. They're just having some fun and side stories.
Seriously, we would love to help you if you tell us what machine you have, whether you are on extension cords, the size of your circuit breaker and such. There are folks here who can and will give you very clear guidance.

I'm pretty sure within a day posting the problem he updated the bottom of his post to say, "scratch that, it needed a cleaning." I'm guessing he's out in the garage making sawdust.

Question is, what is 'it'? He already had 'cleaned up the headstock'.
I am guessing he fergit to put the belt on the motor pulley.

Yeah, I was asking for it, LOL.
My SS needed cleaning and lubricating. It runs like a champ now and I'm happy that I bought it.

I am pleased to hear that it is running. What did you do that brought life back into it. Loose belts, crud in the start switch, loose wire or what.
Get used to the grit. A lot of it gets spread around here.
