For plastic and wood, I just hack them off with the table saw. Straight cuts in seconds.

All good ideas, and I can see where my 'gadget' budget is going. Determined to finally get this off my back. A decent miter box, tubing cutter, replace my backsaw (I think I shouldn't have used it that time to cut rebar- somehow it just wasn't the same after that), and work out a serious band saw & table saw setup.
Obviously it can be done, and I just hafta get my mind around doing it up right.
No more hold the pipe on my knee, grab that old pruning saw...
