Well that simplifies things. The bevel cut is not "all the way across the edge".

I like those plans! If my wife ever finishes grading papers, I'm gonna ask her if she would like one of those. (I'm pretty sure that an Incra HingeMaster jig would be required in order to build it. :D )

THANKS to everyone for the reply's. I think I'll start over and cut the bevel and groove on a wider piece, flat on the table.

How ya gonna tilt the table 67 1/2 degrees?]narrow[/B] edge gonna be 'flat' on the table?

I have been thinking about this and have decided that this project is not as simple as it seems at first glance. If you need more input, let us know.

Sketchup is getting to be a very useful tool. I have made this project about three times in Sketchup.

I have done this using Sketchup; there has been no saw dust. Therefore, there are no guarantees.

After playing with this in Sketchup, I have concluded that the two sides can be with the table tilted at any angle and that the three or four cuts can all be made without changing the table tilt.

I would start with the side pieces cut as 5/16" thick boards that measure 4"x16".

Then tilt the table right to 22.5° (or any other angle that seems appealing.). Do not change the table tilt until the next three or four cuts are completed.

Cut the dado.

Cut the bottom edge off.

Bottom edge gone. One cut left.

[ATTACH]23813[/ATTACH]
Final trim. Reorient work piece before making this cut.

One bevel cut is all you need.

I hope by now we realize that all we need is ONE SAW CUT to make two pieces that are 2 inches wide, with the bevel along one long edge. Just saw the bevel in the middle of a board that is wider than 4". Then saw the squared edge to get the 2" width.

If I were to make this, I would start with a board 3/4" thick and after sawing the bevel, plane to the 1/2" width.

I am embarrassed. No, I had not even thought of that. Yes, a very wise approach.

That approach would, however, necessitate a change in the sequence of the cuts. Not a problem, just a different order.
