They are a friend of mine. He has been giving me tips, on how to build them.

Don't be too surprised! Woodworking - building a project - takes quite a bit of time! Usually the small projects touted by magazines as "weekend projects" take at least a week (5 days or so) do finish.
Others, often take a month or two.

The pump handle hinge is a small leather strap.
I still need to add a cup and rattle can clear.
I will also need to assemble, five more copies of this lamp.
I had a video, but I see that this site does not support them <frown>

This project is dedicated to a long since passed (dear friend of mine) who was my wood working mentor, when I was 14. 41 years have gone by and here I am building these lamps, that he and I built back then!

Hi, Extra! Your bedside water pump lamp turned out VERY NICE! Gotta admit, you had me going with pictures of the detailed work you did on the fence, and the small mortises you showed. All along you had a plan and, when put together, the water pump lamp appeared.
Nice Work, I'm sure George would have been proud!
