Hello,
I'm new here, but have been reading posts on the forum for a while now. I've also checked out some of the videos on Youtube.com.
I live in Wake Forest, NC, just North East of Raleigh. I bought a SS today and I'm very excited about using it. This machine is very old, it is gold colored with no wheels on it, but has Mark 5 on the side of it.
Thanks for all of the information on here. You guys really know your stuff when it comes to the SS.

SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Are you sure it says Mark V, not Mark 5?
What does the vent plate say? Model/Motor/Manufacturer?
It is important to know which 'older' model you have.

You are right, Sir. It is a Mark 5 and the serial number is 37866. The last couple of numbers weren't clear.

Well, I'm just now figuring out that I'm missing lots of pieces. Today I ordered the Manual for the 500, two power couplers, T handle 5/32" wrench, Woodworking for everyone book and a chuck key x 2. LOL. I know that one always gets lost, it is mandatory.
I've been oiling some of the parts that were locked with rust, amazing. This stuff comes right back to life.
If anyone can think of other newbie equipment, I'll be interested to hear about it.
