Can I Use a #2MT Drive Polishing Wheel?

Is there an adapter so I can use a #2 MT drive based tool on a SS??

On a shopsmith the only place for using an MT2 is the tail stock. Not so helpful when you were hoping to spin it right?
There are other options other then MT2 mounting if that would help. If you can give us an idea as to what you are trying to do we might be able to help more.

With a little thought, I have come up with my own solution.
I already purchased a 3 wheel polishing "kit" from Penn State...without reading the fine print about the DRIVE side. So I had something that, for the time being, there was no way to use it on a Shopsmith. From the time of the posting till now...well there is a solution.
I am using a 1 1/4" arbor as a substitute. The center hole is just big enough to bite into the rod and supply drive to the polishing wheels. since the polisher is not subject to lots of lateral pressure...I guess it is good to go.

Hi,
Sounds like you have something there, give us a report back after you have used it a bit and perhaps show is a picture of the setup. Always like simple solutions when you can find them.

If you have a Nova chuck or something similar you could use something like this to hold a #2 morse taper --

This too is an interesting idea. Since it is a hardened part I'm not so sure I would trust mounting it in a wood working chuck.... However I do recall a few people here with the proper type chucks and it would be interested in how well this would work. Any volunteers???
Any of you who have the metal version chucks, who makes them and where can you find one? Have to see if the cost verses utility would be right for me.
I would like to have that capacity but I'm not sure at what price.

I buy a lot of parts from Ebay Seller tristateauto who has 3 and 4 jaw chucks with adapter that fits the Shopsmith. See Ebay item # 320596179243.
Gary is really a nice guy to deal with and is ready to answer any questions. Prompt shipping too. I highly recommend them.

Thanks Bill, once I saw the listing I remembered I have gotten something from him, now if I could recall what it was.... trouble is now I see other things I'd like to have too.

Is it possible to unthread the #2 Morse taper from the mandrel. When I first started to turn pens I got a mandrel that had a @ Morse taper end that was only threaded on. Don't know if yours will do that.

Here are a couple of pictures. I plan to try it out tomorrow on some pens. Bdefore I do, I will put a couple of washers between the arbor body and the quill face to keep the arbor from backing away from the polisher...and yes, I will remove the arbor nut while I'm at it.
