Consider it gone! All that's left is the column, arm, carriage for the motor, motor, and a few other random parts. When I get a chance, everything but the motor is going to recycling. And I'm only giving the motor another week or so to see if it sells on Ebay or Marketplace. I highly doubt it at this point.

I am looking for the parts in the Base, Column, Arm and Table numbers 17,34,35, and 58. Plus anything else to replace the Shaft Riser, Shaft Stub, Coupling, and Bushing for the column riser crank. Please PM me if you have those available still.

On this day, one more Sawsmith 500003 has been saved! I still need to go through it thoroughly but it looks to be in good shape aside for most of the column lift assembly being missing. I guess its back to stalking eBay.

I recently acquired a Craftsman radial arm saw, for the purpose of using its right-hand thread on the right side of the motor. I admit I haven't even looked at the reverse-thread of the primary spindle. But since someone posted a photo of the right-side spindle, with a drill chuck mounted on it, I thought someone might want to know it's size: 1/2-20.
Now, a question of my own:
I currently have a drill chuck mounted on that 12-20 spindle, but what I'm really after is a direct adapter straight from 1/2-20 to a standard 5/8-11 (standard angle grinder thread). (I currently have a jury-rigged set up: a chuck, clutching a drill-adapter with a 5/8-11 on the end, on which I screw a quad adapter flange, with a 7" flush-mounted diamond, stone-cutting blade. The motor is rotated 90% so the blade is horizontal. I will use it to "shave" stone slabs down to a uniform thickness, as part of my stone carving process.
I have found only a few places that offer a 1/2-20F to 5/8-11M adapter, but so far the parts are mislabeled 5/8-18, or the companies are going out of business and not responding. If anybody has a viable source, I'd be obliged.

The hole saws adapter you linked to, is correct on the female (1/2-20), but incorrect on the male (5/8-18 instead of 5/8-11). I did actually order one earlier, but then discovered the description was mislabeled. I've since seen the same part labeled correctly as well as mislabeled.
The part I want will probably look something like this
(link deleted). Unfortunately this company seems to be going out of business and isn't responding to my queries. And hopefully the $93 price is a typo.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but in my search for a 1960s Mark VII, I came across a package deal of the Shopsmith along with a Sawsmith radial arm saw, also had a few SPTs with it. As I was unloading everything at home, I got a bandsaw, jointer, belt sander, air compressor and spray gun, grinding and wire wheels. Everything except the belt sander are in the gold paint, then looking thru the manuals, I realized that the accessories were most likely a package for the Sawsmith. It seems that the only thing I am missing is the Add-a-tool bracket. Anyone know where I can find one?

These are really hard to find… if you do pick one up, you’ll also need belts and pulleys to complete the connection. Frankly, if you picked up the Shopsmith as part of the package, you’re much better off driving the SPTs off that system, rather than the
RAS.
Keep an eye out on eBay - I found these there a couple of years ago…

Thanks for that info. Could you please share the belt and pulley size in that kit. I'm also wondering what the distance from the center of the holes in the Add-a-tool bracket to the edge that bolts to the saw is as well. I'm hoping I can fabricate something up in the meantime.

I was able to find the specs on the Belt and Pulley kit. It has a 40" V belt and 2" x5/8" and 4-1/4" v 5/8" pulleys. I am still looking for the dimesions from the center of the SPT holes to the edge that bolts to the Sawsmith. @jpdalton, I agree that running the SPTs off a Shopsmith is a better option, I'm just one of those people that wants to collect as many accesories for each, as I can. The more I'm going through my purchase, I found where the original owner bought the Mark VII, Sawsmith and accesories at the same time. This kind of explains why there was no Add-a-tool braket with everyting else.

Remember the pulley and belt ratios/sizes are different for each SPT. The ratio between the pulleys determines the speed of the SPT. The belt length is determined by the size of the pulleys and how far apart they are. There are calculators online to determine these sizes based on motor speed.

It’s really interesting to me that the jointer is run straight off the spindle, but the others go through pulleys. I guess that despite having variable speed in the power head, perhaps the low end of the variable range is still a bit high for some of these add ons?
By the way, this came from some dealer literature that I got with a Sawsmith purchase a couple of years ago.

I feel I have to warn you about collecting Magna/Shopsmith tools. It is easy to get carried away. The picture below is from moving day a bit over two years ago going from using half of our oversized double garage (30' x 36') to a 40' x 46' shop. What you see in the picture is only part of my collection. There have been additions since.

I haven't even gotten into the Sawsmith Radial Arm Saw or Table Saw or some of the other tool lines. My recommendation is get a bigger shop. 😃

Oh, I'm past the point of starting to get carried away, I have a 10ER, a 1954 Mark 5, plus five more of those, three 510s, five bandsaws, four jointers, three belt sanders, air compressor with paint gun, a 12" planer and a few other things as well.
