She's already seen the burgundy vs. OEM gray and gave me her opinion. (which I'll hold) Ignoring potential future "pinky version", what do you think?

The burgundy is pretty, but I think the gray will wear better. That is, of course, if you plan to use the machine. If not, go with candy apple red and flames!

I added a poll to the thread regarding the choice of color for painting the ER. It's between the OEM gray and burgundy shown in post 216. Even though you may have answered in this post already, add to the poll also. The poll shows up at the top of every thread page.

I like the burgundy and voted for it, but if the machines were side by side, the gray wood look better next to the pink, IMHO.

I was just getting ready to fill the knots in the bench boards with Loctite Instant-Mix 5 minute epoxy. Since the 2 parts (epoxy and curing agent) are both clear, I thought it was going to cure clear but in reading the fine print on the back of the package, it says that it dries to a "yellow translucent solid". Have anyone used this product to know just how yellow are they talking about? I don't want it to stand out like a sore thumb.

I was going to chide you about the wood base and material and finish you were to put on it, but I need not! Nice photo and glorious when it comes to Photoshop; makes it all a lot easier,eh?

BUT what IS that wood base she sits upon? And is it all one piece? Tell me it isn't real!

I voted burgundy; it just looks nice to me! (Well, that's the color of my car, come to think of it.) Also it reminds me of the neat animated movie, "Robots," I think. Pretty sure the character "Big Weld" was voiced by Mel Brooks. I think the burgundy really makes it shine as a piece of industrial art / industrial archaeology (to use one of Nick's terms). I think mickyd will have no problem attending to any cosmetic touchups needed during use. Burgundy lipstick on a paint-chip now and then.

Here'sthe wood base that came with it. Not sure if it's yellow pine, hemlock, spruce, or what. They look much nicer now that they are striped, planed, sanded but you'll have to wait to see. The one piece in the photo above isn't original.

I vote for a color I remember the model 10's having 50 yrs ago. More of a dark blue than a gray. This is close████, but darker.

I've been racking my brain Heath to come up with some accent colors somewhere but since I am color design challenged, I am having no luck. I am open however to anything. Since nameplate will be brass and knobs / levers will be gold, I thought black or cream but then I struggle deciding what to paint. I'm still playing in Paint Shop Pro with some accent colors just to see how it looks. I have to see it vs. conceptualize. Any suggestions, anyone, lay it on!!!!

I've seen a couple of OEM parts with original paint and they were very close to the ER shown in post 216.

Well it has been 50 years since I recollect seeing the 'one' I was acquainted with. Paint does fade/oxidize. ????? Memory fades also?

I think you recollection is still okay. The machine pictured and referenced by mickyd was painted with Rustoleum Hammered Gray. It is a different color than the original 10E/ER. The yahoo 10er user group has a reference for a couple of custom mixes intended to more closely match the original color. Your right about the hammered gray. The guy that restored it mentions that on his site, MKC Tools(Skip Campbell, 10ERusers group founder). Looking at the motor on that unit, that appears closer to the original color???? and the one JPG describes. Would you agree?

Now I have to go edit all my posts that incorrectly referred to it as "OEM gray". Don't want to mislead future generations!!:o

I remember finding that color information before but it is the the folder I made up for my brother when I gave him the machine. (Should have made a copy for myself).
