You have the conventional way tube assembly that only tilts up at one end for drill press mode. There is an upgrade available and standard on the newest Mark 7 model that allows the way tubes to be tilted up from either end. With that upgrade the way tubes are a little short to fit tight end to end in the new base castings. The tubes are then then secured only with set screws they don't fit tight on either end. This makes some of us a little nervous although there may not be any actual problem, but it would be nice if Shopsmith included a pair of little spacers so the the way tubes would fit tight end to end when upgraded with the double tilt option.
Since you're new to Shopsmiths it would be a good idea to browse the product line and familiarize yourself with all the available options. There is plenty of technical information in this forum, sometimes well organized, other times just ad hoc conversations such as in this thread.
Glad you got your machine assembled. Look around here and you'll find you never needed to do anything except remove the legs to transport your machine home. Come back any time if you need help. Did you get the links to work?
