I had a little setback today. I was driving the roll pins out of the caster assembly and cracked one of the feet. :(

Well that clears things up! Thanks for the info. Looks like I won't be returning the gold and copper paint I picked up :D

I'd love to hear some opinions on the Gilmer vs. poly v drive. Should I switch? I'd like a 2 bearing quill at some point. I see Bill Mayo sells one for the Gilmer drive.

I was quoted approx $300 for powder coating the Headstock, carriage end pieces and legs. This did not include Initial prep. They wanted an additional $200 for sand blasting. I could get another SS for that so I skipped it. I could probably set up my own Powder coating operation for less than that. ...

I'm still searching for a base. I have plenty to do before I find one anyway. Here's a question for you guys. What are the thoughts on changing the color of a machine? Its not that I don't like the gold and copper, I'm just thinking of having everything powder coated.

Another caveat! The greenie(and early goldies) have a slightly different base than the older versions. They were designed for the larger 1 7/8" bench tubes. The opening is NOT the difference. The difference is the side stop(s). The later stops protrude further from the side than the older ones...
