Re: Stimulus Check

Well it finally happened. IRS.GOV now shows that my 2019 taxes have been paid and the account transcript is complete. I wonder now how long it will take for the website to show the 2020 status. Just a question out of curiosity. Why does it matter what IRS.Gov says about this? I have never checked t...

Re: Its only money ????

Ohh yes. Limit supply and demand/prices will rise. Are timber prices also escalating? Surplus says no. Sounds like gouging. After all those folks call a 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" stick a 2 by 4! All true BUT in the beginning a 2"x4" was measured rough cut. With regard to surplus - where i...

Re: Its only money ????

I doubt that solution. I have worked in steel buildings here on the desert and as a result I prefer something other. I recently moved from a frame built house to a smaller brick and stucco and my electrical bill has gone up about 5% (same utility district). I know HOT. My workshop has always been o...

Re: Its only money ????

Well, they can always switch over to steel, as is used in many commercial buildings. I think Douglas Fir 2x4's in my area are on parity with steel 2x4's right now. Maybe in parts of the USA, steel is actually cheaper than wood. There is a learning curve to working with them, but carpenters can &...

Re: Its only money ????

With the new ,{ more valuable } "new growth" lumber we are seeing demanding higher prices do I need expensive tools ? All kidding aside, if this keeps up will there even be a new housing market in the future ? one report said it cost 25k more per 1000 sq ft of home today than it did 2 yea...

Re: Table Line Up

[attachment=0]20210508_073806.jpg[/attachment Some times I just don't think. Why was I using main table legs for this setup. No clamping necessary. Just install the adjustable stop collars as shown and go for the alignment. It works great and especially so with two SuperBars. Tweak the stop collars ...

Re: Magnetic Tape on 520 Front Rails

The best part of the discussions here are seeing different perspectives on how things are accomplished. Thanks Russ. Yeah, I never took the time to see if I could use my 520 rulers because I noticed how easily they were bumped or knocked off on mine. Dusty has indicated he has had some success usin...

Re: Magnetic Tape on 520 Front Rails

Even though my tapes are losing their magnetic characteristics, I have not found the "rip scale" to be all that ineffective. Now I don't move the quill setting much so the only time I have to re-zero is when I move either the carriage or the headstock. When that happens just relocate the r...
