Bill,
Your suggestion fixed the problem! The headstock has never run so smoothly & quietly. I found the easiest way to get the drive belt back on the large Motor pulley was to take out the screws on one side & back of the motor housing.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I need to get this beastie working ASAP, I will check out what you suggest.
PS I did set the speed to high before I started the repairs.

I have just spent a frustrating few hours with my 520, the Idler shaft had been leaking grease out of the front bearing by the eccentric, & the whole thing was running rough, so I ordered a new shaft with bearing & also the Poly-V & drive belts which to my knowledge were the originals.
