Re: Flag Display Case, My First
Thank you for this excellent posted project!
I have recently been released from a job, so I'm going to have some additional free time for a spell. I'd like to make something similar for my late Dad's flag.
Your use of a base, along with the triangle, is very well done!

It is beautiful!
I've seen on some guitar forums where they abbreviate "mahogany" to "hog". I don't think that befits this luxe craft though![Smile :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)

Hi Pete,
You asked about my desk from years ago... here is a link to the final look. The top was made of long oak planks joined with glue and dowels:

I wish I know more, but I don't know more than what you've seen.

Re: Looking for advice, horizontal boring, edge joining with dowels and glue
This entire thread is highly informative. I will just mention that my first Shopsmith WW project in 2007 used horizontal boring and dowels to help glue up a wide desktop I made. It is still perfect and gap-free 15 years later. I do remember running a handplane over the finished joints, before sandin...

I would gravitate toward using that fine extension, more than the original counter! With my beverage and such ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/smile.gif)
