Wood Source

One thing more you might check out - make the acquaintence of some of your local junior high or high school shop teachers. Those are guys who buy wood on a very tight budget, and have turned me on to some great, small local hardwood dealers where I can buy local lumber at very reasonable prices. Joh...

Mortise Attachment

I'm glad to see someone bring this up! I've often wondered what the benefits of the mortising attachment are. On my last project, a nightstand, I just put a 1/4" plunge router bit in the shopsmith and routed my mortises. I had to round off the shoulders of the tenons to make them fit, but it se...

Conical Sander

I just watched the Sawdust session on the Conical Sander. Thanks, Nick and Shopsmith, for making these available on the web. I've learned so much from them. I'm still not totally sure what the conical sander will do that the flat sander won't, though. Can't I just angle my fence a little and do the ...

Wooden Bicycle?

Well, I suppose it would work in there! It's a relatively small wheel, about 5 inches in diameter (at least right now), and just soft enough to be able to poke a thumbnail into.

Rubber Bonded Abrasive Wheel

I've set up my late father's Mark V 500 as my main tool in my half of the garage. Sure is nice to be able to park a car in here as well - I love the small footprint of the Shopsmith! While unpacking all the equipment, I've run across the "rubber bonded abrasive wheel." Although it's briefl...
