Router magic shows a couple jigs for using a router to make dowels and as a lathe.

I need to build two simple columns and am considering using a scaled up version of the dowel turning jig on page 102 of Router Magic.

The Shopsmith Mark V motor belt is little wider than 1/2" (17/32") and 26 1/2" long. I have used 1/2" Link (Powertwist) belts with 35 links. A standard 1/2" X 26" V-belt can used as a substitute but it prevents reaching the SLOWest or FASTest speeds until well worn. Th...
