Look for a 'bump' with a spherical raised center(top third of a ball bearing) See if the raised center can be depressed. If so put some oil in it. #10 oughta do.

My understanding from his posts here was that he was selling refurbished Shopsmiths at a county fair type event and got a visit from a lawyer who not only demanded he remove any references to shopsmith but also he not wear a shopsmith badged hat. Since thee is working closely with Nick my concern is mitigated.

As a history lesson Bill Mayo(RIP) could enlighten thee regarding his use of shopsmith 'stuff' in his used shopsmith endeavors and the visit by lawyer types.

Inertia. Does the chuck have a locking set screw to secure the adapter to the chuck? Teflon tape likely made it worse(low friction fit). With no locking set screw(with pad to prevent scaring the adapter threads) the adapter MUST be torqued to the chuck with considerable force. IF you intend to only ...
