That looks exactly like what I want. What do you figure it cost with the Aluminum? How much Aluminum did you buy? Do you have plans particularly the aluminum extrusions lengths and cuts.

I just a bought a used 510 in the last three months. It is a great machine. Although if I had to do it over again, I would have waited and found a unit for sale with more accessories. The intial purchase would have cost more, but in the end I may have saved on the total investment.

I also think a set of calipers that can measure outside, inside and depth is very useful, especially for making dados and grooves. They appear occasionally on e-bay.

The 'knob' appears correct in yer first pix. The collar controls shaft end play. If yours does not move in/out, the collar is likely correct.

The 500 arbor is indeed shorter than the 505...20 arbor.

Also be aware there are two versions of the knurled collar. The difference being the length of the end that faces the bearing(inside the quill)

The arbor item number is 555321 (Model 500 only). I don't know what the differences are between 500, and 505,510,520 ?
I guess it could be overall length, maybe? This would explain my problem.
