Yes, I just pulled the bearings and snap ring.... Hey, it's a 1954 and was not in too terrible shape when I picked it up this November. The bearings were not bad but I bought new bearings anyway at the local NAPA auto parts store, and was planning on overhauling the clutch as depicted in one of the ...

1954 Gilmer with no clutch Recomendations?

I discovered that the 1954 Greenie that I am working on does not have a clutch. Should I be worried and try to upgrade or just use it. The belt looks fine, but it does look like the drive pulley has spun on the shaft at some time in the past. Here is a picture:

Hope I'm wrong, but this is what several folks have told me....Maybe it's just a regional thing, but I looked far and wide before I paid Amazon's premium price.

The owner of the shopsmith sent me some pictures, it must be a greenie painted grey, can't think of any other explanation. The tag indicates a 3/4 HP motor and the serial number indicates 1954. Can anyone identify the accessories in one of the photos? Or have another idea on this? I have two 3/4 hp ...

I searched hi and lo for Rustoleum Verde Green and could not find it at any of the local hardware stores, Lowes or HD. I did find a couple of cans on Amazon.com of all places. The price was a bit high at 11.49 per can but the shipping is free if you buy 3 cans. This is a discontinued color and will ...

Help with year

I am looking at another shopsmith to join my two Greenies, 1954 and 1956. It's a listing with a poor picture. The machine is grey and the owner tells me the serial number is 27166. I looked at the shopsmith serial number listing and couldn't figure out where this one might fit in. Any ideas? I haved...

I like the grommet idea. Is that an electrical supply specialty item or something that can be found at Lowes?

Drilling an access hole in a Greenie

I read several posts about drilling an access hole in the very early Mark V's that didn't have one. I took a stab at it and am going to attempt to post pictures. I used a standard bi-metal 3 1/8 inch hole saw, starting with a small centering hole layed out on the center line of the existing small ho...
