I have the mini kreg jig kit. What is the secret to setting the stop collar to the right hight? Sometimes I set it to high and the bit goes all the way thru the board. I don't see no ruler on it like the more expensive jigs do.

I still like my system best. If a rough calculation in my head says 4 board feet, I go buy "about" 12 board feet in random widths and lengths being sure I get a couple of boards long enough for any long pieces I might need. Why wouldn't you just buy 5 board feet? I don't see the need for ...

I don't enjoy it when a thread gets off topic. It is hard to find an answer sometimes. For instance if the original question was "is a biscuit joiner necessary?". Then the next post is I don't like biscuits I like cupcakes. Then number three is biscuits are good for breakfast but not lunch...

Question for CV3. At Michael's they sell a bag of various size carving blanks. Are these strong enough to cut down for pen blanks?
