Thanks for everybody's input on this. It is the exact direction I was thinking in. As for why do I want to set up a second Shopsmith dedicated to this...? I want to be able to keep the wood working and the metal working set-ups separate from each other. I don't want to mix metal filings and saw dust ...

Adapting A Shopsmith For Another Use...

I have an interest in knife making. My first step would be simple stock removal done on a belt sander. From a factory, these devices can be very expensive. It struck me that they are simply an electric motor with a pulley set up to route the belts, with a tool rest for the piece being worked. I have ...

I live in the world of aviation, and currently there is a lot of confusion over the subject of "Drones". The news media has done a great job of confusing definitions of various kinds of remotely piloted or autonomous small aircraft.

In the first modern wave of UAV's there were things like the ...

Most systems bring fresh, filtered air in at the top of the booth, and have another fan pulling air out through vents at the bottom of the booth. If you choose to vent ...

P.S. How did you "accidentally" buy a Shopsmith?

That's for your info. I have a lot of day to day things to handle for the next few days before I can get the bandsaw pulled out and checked again....as for the purchase: I want to fill out the group of attachments for my own SS, and have been ...

Thanks for the input so far. I can't drag it out and check anymore on it for a few days...because I accidentally bought a Craigslist Mark V today. Its crammed into the garage to keep it indoors and out of the rain. I went to see if the Jointer and Belt Sander were decent and ended up bringing the ...

I haven't checked to see if the blade is parallel to the table. If not, it's a fraction of an inch. I know my father had been using it as it is now just before he passed away....and the things he cut were square.

I had the guard set about an 1/8" above the material, so that should have been good ...

My First Post/ Question

Hello to everybody. I've been reading and learning a lot from this forum so far. Like so many others, my father passed away and I inherited his Mark V Model 500 SS. He bought it new in the mid 1970's. I need to get more involved in using it and woodworking, so I've cleaned it up and it seems in good ...
