Re: Rust removal
If you want a before and after look at electrolysis, look at my some of my post of when I refurbished my shopsmith. Electrolysis, if done correctly will bring it down to bare metal. You will still need to use a wire brush to get some of the excess rust off then prime and paint with quality paint. To...

Lathe turning
REIBLE; It is definitely a learning curve compared to a standard table saw. You hit the nail on the head, I did not adjust the headstock lock position. I am now sure, if I would have accomplished that one detail, I could have had a safer cutting session. 8iowa, Thank you for the invite, and yes, I d...

Thank you for the reply, but how deep of an X do I need to cut ( by any chance do you have any example pictures)? So instead of using the gouge tip, are you saying to lean the tool back to the bevel? I have a question about the Shopsmith rest; am I suppose to follow the angle of the rest since I;m n...

I have a question that I hope don't seem stupid, but I do need some professional answers. O.k, I am trying the lathe for the first time tonight, by trying to make a cheap pressure treated 12" 4x4, round (Trying to make a roller if it turns out alright). Anyway, I set up the lathe as per shop sm...

thanks once again for the comments
Thank you for the comments; I am hoping to get a belt sander for this machine in the future, but I have to get healthier so I can finish the rest of this Shopsmith. In the future, I wouldn't mind acquiring an older machine to refurbish, but I have enough projects now. Currently, I am planning on mak...
