Re: Income Taxes - 2023

David, Yes, I have deducted the $500K capital gains exclusion but still have a large gain to pay taxes on. Our original purchase price plus improvements over the years was only about a quarter of the selling price after 37 years. I did a lot of the work on improvements myself and my labor cannot be ...

Re: Income Taxes - 2023

I wish my tax filing was going a well as years past. As many of you know we moved last year so a house purchase and a house sale. It is the sale that is hitting us hard this year with capital gains after living in our old home for almost 37 years. Having to gather up all the receipts I saved all of ...

It is in my future too. When it's time I will have it done. Glad it has gone well for those of you who have already had it done.

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

It appears to be a Mark Mounted Planer made in March of 1984 and at some point, put on a stand. It would be helpful to know what is not working for anyone interested in buying it. Could be the feed motor, cutter head motor or something else. At $100 still could be a good buy.

Re: Shopsmith "Self Study Course"

simonmac2, First off welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. I would like to know if you are referring to the actual Self Study Course or the book Power Tool Woodworking for Everyone . The Self Study Course is divided into 10 Lessons (chapters or sections) with a total of 66 assignments. A least that is the...

Re: New to Me Model 10E Serial Number 1077

Doing some looking back today and noticed my last post here was again nearly a year and a half ago. I did change the motor on 1077 (in back) to its original A. O. Smith 1/2 HP Motor which matches the one show here on 1076 (in front) in the picture below. This picture was taken less than a month afte...

Re: Returning the E-clip to bandsaw

I have had the E Clip or Retaining Ring on older Magna/Shopsmith Bandsaws off many times. As suggested already there may be one of several reasons you are not able to get the E Clip back on. First I would check the E Clip without the Upper Wheel in place to see if the E Clip may be too wide for the ...

For those who may have missed it in the other thread "Shopsmith Crosscut Sled" here is the Q and A Scott Markwood posted. Hopefully this clears things up. It appears they used Dusty's pictures. Someone oops :o

Re: Heads Up - Bargain 'available'

Although it is missing some Mark 2 specific parts (at least not shown in the pictures) it would be a great start for someone wanting to do a Mark 2 restoration. One big plus is it has the Mark 2 Retractable Casters and looks to be in pretty good condition already.

JPG,

Not a pesky detail at all. It is an important detail and something I should have remembered to mention in my post.
