Re: Yet another "Goldie" Restoration
The Base and Arm look to be in good shape after the pin removal. I don't recall ever seeing a used pin for sale separately from the Base and Arm Assembly. If you can't find one you could make your own with some rod stock of the correct diameter.

Re: Model ER 37871
Scoob37, At serial number 37871 it would have either an ER prefix for the eastern plant or R for the western plant. The prefix E had been replaced with ER by that serial number for the eastern plant. If it has the ER prefix it would have been made in early 1951. If it has the R prefix it would have ...

Re: Share your Magna memorabilia!
John, You said Wonder what that upper saw guard looked like on the Mark 2…? There’s a needle in a haystack for us collectors!! I believe the Mark 2 may have used the last version of the Model 10ER Upper Saw Blade Guard too, even though the part number of 26 070 is different than a Model 10 P/N's. Th...

Re: Wanting to get an idea what a mark v, planner m5980 would be worth.
Location does make a difference. There are two different Shopsmith Planers, the Mark Mount and the Pro Planer. The Mark Mount sits on the way tubes and is powered by the Headstock to turn the cutter head. The Pro Planer has its own stand and motor to turn the cutter head. There is a separate motor t...
Re: way tubes
Haverstrawman, You said, Wheels work but only at the level that is supposed to be 1/2 inch. Do you mean at the highest step and it drags at the first step? There isn't a lot of play there between the holes in the legs and the holes in the Retractable Caster Assemblies. You could try to loosen the bo...

Re: Yet another "Goldie" Restoration
The tables look great now. I had noticed the color on the legs not being original. That was the starting reason for posting the picture of the Goldie I restored as a reference for you as to what color to paint different parts. Looks like everything is coming along nicely. Keep us posted.
Re: way tubes
Ed,
I believe the new Mark V 520S does come with Double Tilt ends although one picture still shows the single tilt bench. The same is shown for the Mark 4 in the online catalog.

Re: Upgrading from a Gilmer
Serial number 271322 Was made in June of 1954. From the picture of the Headstock below check to see if you have the parts # A3274 shown on the far left edge of the drawing. This is the Bearing Retainer (2 parts side by side) that was added to the early Headstocks. It keeps the Idler Shaft Bearing an...

Re: Yet another "Goldie" Restoration
AllenH, In watching the video, I have some comments for you. The paint colors I used for my previous Goldie restoration (shown below) are Rust-Oleum Hammered Finish paints. I used copper for the copper painted parts and the color oatmeal for the "gold" color parts. These were a near perfec...

Re: Is the overarm pin router still available from SS?
David mentioned the Wagner Safe-T-Planer which if you can find one, or similar, may be a good alternative to using a router bit for your butcher blocks. It covers a wider pass than a router bit. The limiting factor, which is slightly more than for a router bit, is the distance between the Way Tubes ...
