Re: 10ER for sale

The Shopsmith Forum is not really the place to be selling your Shopsmith tools. Shopsmith provides this Forum to us free of charge to exchange information. They are in the business of selling tools, accessories and replacement parts, so selling used Shopsmith Tools is in competition with them. They ...

Re: 10er table and table assembly

Since the Shopsmith Model 10ER was last made in 1953 OEM parts must be found elsewhere. Common hardware is easy to find and 2 parts from the Model 10's are still used on the Mark series tools today. For the Table parts check at online auctions or your local craigslist or similar. This applies to bot...

Re: Drill Chuck Key Jams

David and Steve, I feel I may have introduced some confusion to this discussion. When I referred to smaller and larger gears on the Keys it was not for the two versions of the current key but was including of the two sizes of the keys for the original Jacobs and Cushman Drill Chuck Keys. The picture...

Re: Just got a 10E

I have made replacements for several Wood Extension Tables. I make them from 3/4" Plywood, cabinet grade that has 5 layers. In fact I have two of them cutout and waiting to have the holes drilled followed by a Varathane finish to help protect them. They are for Model 10E's serial numbers 1033 a...

Re: Drill Chuck Key Jams

SteveMaryland, You said, I will bet that if someone were to mic the stub shaft diameter on an old good key and these new keys, there will be a difference. I doubt that the problem is with variation in the chuck bore diameter. You called it the "stub shaft" which I believe is what you are c...

Re: Holes on miter gauge

judebak, As David said it is important to check and remove the set screws that holds the Stop Rod in place before trying to adjust the nylon glide set screws. The nylon glide set screws are generally slotted set screws while the metal set screws that hold the Stop Rod in place are hex. Turning these...

Re: MV 500 Saw Guard Mounting Block

Since you bought just the Main Table/Carriage Assembly I hope it came with the Mark V 520 Fence too. You didn't list that. For now, you can still use your original Extension Table and Mark V 500 Fence on it to do wider cuts. The next upgrade you may want is a Mark V 520 Extension Table and then you ...

Re: What can you safely do sitting down? (on a shop stool)

I too sit down for some work I do on the Shopsmith tools. Lathe Turning is one I may sit down for. I do a lot of my restoration work cleaning and polishing parts on my Mark 7 and generally sit down. I have back problems that make it preferable to sit while working for a longer time. When using the T...

Re: Lower Saw Guard

Mike, I haven't owned a Mark VII yet, so this is only what I have observed about them. The Table surface is very similar to the Mark 5/V 500 original Table System except the Mark VII table is larger. The Mark VII uses the same Table Inserts as the Mark 5/V 500 which for the Saw Blade Insert was part...

Re: Drill Chuck Key Jams

Reading and looking at Davids post above made me curious about the current style Drill Chucks I have. In picture 4 above with the two Drill Chucks disassembled It does appear that the pilot holes are at different distances from the from their split nut's location. There could be a difference in the ...
