free steel blades, dados, etc

When I bought my older SS a couple years ago, it came with a number of steel blades, non-carbide dados, etc. I don't have a plan to use them. Does anyone want them, or know of who would want them? Not sure if they have any value other than to recycle. I'm in the Seattle area.

1 1/8 hp motor swap

I have a 1955 SS where the 3/4 hp motor is still running fairly well. I see that Shopsmith has a sale on the 1 1/8 hp motor (516152). Is the upgrade worth it, and how difficult is it to swap out the motors? Thanks

Re: steel circular saw blades

Thanks for all the responses. Sounds like I'll invest in some good carbide blades and turn the old ones into clocks or throwing stars or something.

steel circular saw blades

When I purchased my 1955 SS last year, included were a number of sharp but old steel circular saw blades. I've been told by an experienced woodworker that those are dangerous and I should get rid of them and buy carbide. Was wondering what others thought?

bandsaw blade size

Hello, I saw it posted somewhere that the SS bandsaw takes a 72" blade. I've seen several other sizes available at the big box stores that are 72- 7/16"(Bosch) and another on Ebay that is 71-3/4" (Olson). Will these work with the SS?

Re: Jigsaw

I also used that part number and received the gaskets from Shopsmith a couple days ago. They do carry them.

Wow, $44 for the set new. I like the idea of making them, would appreciate any photos anyone might have. Thanks!

Deflectors for saw guard needed

I recently obtained an upper and lower guard for my 1955 SS but it is missing the two deflectors (part #515370). Does anyone know where to get a used set?
