That explains it then. Somebody must have gotten in there and lost the bushing and nut. Then just replaced it with a regular nut.

Mark V 500 tablesaw and jointer guards

Any insights on where to get tablesaw guards for a 500? I've got another primary tablesaw so can't quite justify the expense of new ones from shopsmith. Haven't seen anything on ebay. (Pretty confusing as to what will and won't work too.)
