Re: Returning to Life

The columns presented several unanticipated challenges so success was more rewarding. I didn't get or expect pay for them. People have thanked me for the detail in the ads especially since some have never heard of a shopsmith. I don't spend much time on forums/blogs - it cuts into time making ...

Log turning continued...

Well 2 posts were removed and a rod from the ceiling was installed to "hang" the balcony from over 100 years ago. The 2 new posts are now painted and drying in the building. I didn't know if I could pull this off or not. I knew if I could, I'd save the village several thou$. Being a volunteer job ...

Turning 11 foot columns on a shopsmith

I just finished a project that might interest the wood turners here. Our very old meeting house needed 2 new 11.5 foot columns to hold up the balcony. The pine logs I used are some 350 lbs and over 12" thick. Clips here

Log turning? or lamp chord bore

I bored out a cup center to about 3/8" , chucked up my lamp stock between centers and ran a lamp auger up the middle.
I thought your title meant something like this. Hope the photo comes thru.
