Cool
Thanks for the info Peter. Looks like a great idea. Hmmm..I've got a spare treadmill motor laying around...I might have to consider using it like this. Around here you can get treadmills for free all the time and usually the motors work. It's a good way to get variable speed. Thanks.

Electrical
Can you explain the electrical portion of this setup? I see the router speed control, but what is a rectifier and where is it located. It looks like a great setup.

Thanks for the responses so far. I guess I should also have stated that I would only be using one of these as a drill press and maybe lathe. I don't need the tablesaw feature (already have a Unisaw). So, keeping that in mind, are there any real differences in regards to the drill press and lathe fea...

Shopsmith 10E and 10ER - Which is Better?
Hi all,
I'm curious if one is considered better than the other? Did the ER come with a lot of real improvements to the E, or is the E more heavy duty etc. Or are they basically the same? In other words, would it be worth trying to get an ER over an E?
Thanks,
John

10ER Speed Changer ?
How does the 10ER speed changer work? I'm trying to find information about it but can't see how it works. Does it act like the system similar to the Mark 5 where it self adjusts as you rotate the knob? Or does is just a belt tensioner that relaxs the tension so that you can easily manually move the ...

Beltsander Question
I recently acquired a shopsmith with beltsander attachment (actually i bough ti to make a mini as a sanding station). I watched the Sawdust session #12 where Nick describes how to take it apart, clean and lube it. It's hard to see in the video but at one point he spins the tensioner drum and shows t...
