Table saw sled from HDPE
The average relative humidity here on the Gulf coast is 75% with well over 80% each morning we often go three weeks to a month hovering around 96%, MDF doesn't last long around here. I will use HDPE for the sliders, my question is has anyone tried making the entire sled from HDPE sheet?

Live Center Tip
The point of my live center broke off and the work came out abruptly. I have been unable to find a replacement. Is there a replacement tip from shopsmith?

Re: 12" Table Saw Blade on 500
I appreciate all the responses, and will delay the project until I can secure the bandsaw SPT.

Re: 12" Table Saw Blade on 500
It may still be under powered for the task but I have replaced the 3/4 HP motor with the 1 1/8 HP motor. I should have mentioned that earlier.

Re: 12" Table Saw Blade on 500
The reason I ask is that I slabbed off some sweet gum with my chainsaw. The slabs range from 8 to 14 inches wide roughly 20 inches long and 4 inches thick, I believe I have around 30 of them. I want to begin ripping them down and don't have a band saw.

12" Table Saw Blade on 500
Has anyone used a 12" saw blade on their 500? Is this not safe? I do realize the shopsmith is designed to use a 10" blade.

Re: Headstock Preference
I am familiar with the differences, in fact I have completed a few improvements to mine https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewtopic.php?p=226771#p226771 In addition to the 1 1/8 hp motor and the improvements linked above I drilled an oil port in the control sheave over the keyway, as well as replac...

Headstock Preference
Searching the archives have given me little to no insight. Which headstock is best? Is it a matter of preference? My thoughts are the "A" headstock is heaver and better reinforced making it the better choice. I picked up a "B" headstock, at a good price, for the 1 1/8 motor for m...

Re: 2 1/4 inch Drum Sander Parts
Great suggestion, one that should be followed. That was my thought and I will follow that practice when I replace the sleeve. This one I obtained with my Greenie, 63 years under compression has left it unserviceable.
