Re: Aftermarket Fence for 510?
I've made a few dulcimers, but haven't bothered with an acoustic guitar. Seems like A LOT of work. I know that sounds silly when you look at some of my projects, but acoustics are a different kind of construction, assembly, etc. Plus, it can't be easy in uncontrolled climates.

Re: Aftermarket Fence for 510?
I could certainly try to true up the the end. The question is, do I sand the aluminum extrusion or on the mating surface on the locking mechanism?
Also, how much play is there when the screws underneath or reattached? Are they self centering? It seems like I had no adjustment when I messed with ...

Re: Aftermarket Fence for 510?
Yes, it is a snare drum, but I mainly make stringed instruments.
If I trued up the mating surface, then the screws underneath won't pull the extrusion tight. In other words, it will be left loose which is counterproductive.
Yes, I have two screws, but when tightened, they cause the angle and there ...

Re: Aftermarket Fence for 510?
Here is an example of recent work with the hickory. Since this has 16 staves and 32 mating edges, even small differences can really create a headache for me.

Re: Aftermarket Fence for 510?
Thank you for the links. My budget is much higher than this, in the $250 to $300 range. After all, I've been planning to replace and setting aside funds for quite some time.

Re: Aftermarket Fence for 510?
I'm not a fan of the double locking mechanism either which is why I'm looking for a different option. I do have some money, but not 520 or incra upgrade money. The incra isn't an option anyway because of the reconfiguring time and removal for certain functions using the SS.
