I did receive the metal handles from MKCTools. Installed very easily and are a perfect solution. Can't imagine why Shopsmith would not have supplied the tool rest with something like this to begin with except for cost savings. These work very well and are about the same price point as the replacemen...

Thanks for all of your help. I just ordered the metal set of handles from MKC Tools. They look like just the thing. I will do some more searching of the older posts to see what is available for rest options.
