I did receive the metal handles from MKCTools. Installed very easily and are a perfect solution. Can't imagine why Shopsmith would not have supplied the tool rest with something like this to begin with except for cost savings. Thanks for all of your help. I just ordered the metal set of handles from MKC Tools. They look like just the thing. I will do some more searching of the older posts to see what is available for rest options.
