Thanks for the offer. I manage to pick up a lathe tool rest assembly from a greenie and it looks like it'll work for now.

lathe tool rests

When I found my Mk 5 on CL, it didn't have the lathe tool rest. Watching ebay, I notice that there are basically 4 different styles of the basic lathe tool rest:
1) ER
2) Greenie (one set screw for rest, rest of tool arm/post is a single unit that rotates in carriage)
3) 500 (two set screws, one for ...

magna jointer parts compatibility

I just came into possession of a Magna jointer 620-C (black paint, vintage seems to be around 1960 based on the serial #) and I was wondering how compatible are its parts with the newer versions of the jointer? For example, would the chip chute assembly (513944) fit on this? Same blade sizes ...

The cut off valve is to allow you to properly synchronize the table height screw posts to the chain and each other.

ah! I think I understand now...

The shaft the crank attaches to is 5/16" diameter and is double flatted with a thickness of 3/16". The older style was a wheel crank with a built ...

I just used this method to break down a Mark V that I just purchased from craigslist (my 1st MkV!). Amazingly easy. And I was able to fit it all into a Hyundai Elantra hatchback (not a big car), along with a bandsaw ...

The new Shopsmith outfeed roller kit comes with good and clear instructions on how to disassemble the Thickness Planer that is not covered in the planer manual. I found these instructions were easiler to accomplish than the rebuilding of the headstock and was surprised how quickly they can be done ...

mark v mounted planer

I just bought a Mark V with bandsaw and planer that I found on CL. I found the serial numbers on the mkv headstock and bandsaw and it looks like both were made in 1985. I'm assuming the planer was made in the same year, but I don't know because I can't seem to find the serial number. There are some ...
