magna jointer parts compatibility

Post by rpmilius »

I just came into possession of a Magna jointer 620-C (black paint, vintage seems to be around 1960 based on the serial #) and I was wondering how compatible are its parts with the newer versions of the jointer? For example, would the chip chute assembly (513944) fit on this? Same blade sizes? Bearings?

thanks,
bob

The chip chute should fit, though you will have to drill and tap two holes. The blades and bearings are the same. The basic jointer design has not changed from the 4E through the 620 to current C version. The blade guards have evolved as has the quadrant that locks the fence and, of course, the addition of the chip chute.
