Re: 5/8 inch saw arbor-unable to loosen nut

Problem solved, no reply requested. I mounted the collar nut in a vise and used a crescent wrench on the longer mounting column, then loosened in a counter clockwise direction with slow sustained pressure. The mount to the Shopsmith drive arbor allows a safer removal as it is thicker than the collar ...

5/8 inch saw arbor-unable to loosen nut

I have one 5/8" saw blade arbor with a 40 tooth blade mounted. I am unable to loosen the collar nut in order to exchange for a rip blade. I have tried penetrating oil, but no loosening after 30 minute wait. I am concerned that the edges of the collar nut will round over and that blade will be non ...

PowerPro user manual

Is there an available on line source for the PowerPro user manual? I have one being shipped next week and am curious to read the entire manual prior to the arrival.

Direct-Reading Rip Fence Scales

What is the direct reading rip fence scale on the new 520/Mark 7? Is this the same as the Shopsmith catalog listing 522292?

Canadian owners of PowerPro

As I am close to making a decision to purchase one of the PowerPro options, I would like to read of the Canadian owner perspective of dealing with Shopsmith. I am an original owner of a 1988 model 500 upgraded to a 510 and very convinced of the value of the Shopsmith concept and quality. Having to ...

Shaper cutter profiles

Please offer your choices for 6 shaper cutter profiles that you have found to be the most useful or decorative. Knowing that this is dependent upon the project, I like to build picture frames and secondly provide some shape to the edge of case good (such as bookcases). I intend to use the cutter ...

Thank you for the prompt reply. In the video, Nick does not raise the way tubes to vertical when he refers to loosening the set screw on the base end. Secondly I have a cabinet attached from the bottom way tubes and missed seeing the set screw. This forum has never failed me yet in providing ...

Bench & base assembly part question

While watching Nick Engler on a Sawdust session(March 15, 2008 - Installing a lift assist), there is discussion about how to improve the movement of the motor and carriage along the way tubes. He refers to loosening set screws in the way tube tie bar and the base end. On my Mark 5 (1988 model), I ...

Pro Planer specs

What is the history of cutterhead motor size on Pro Planers? I am looking at a little used 1993 model(s/n 111192) with a 3/4 hp Emerson motor. This is the Pro Planer model as it has the cast iron table. The more recent models have a 1 3/4 hp motor. When did that motor size come into effect

Thank you for your comments. The planer is not available for trial as it will be shipped to me if purchased. Since I have a $200 shipping cost, that would bring the total to $650. The rollers appear to be rubberized, there is no wood chip removal attachment, and I am unclear on the state of the ...
