Canadian owners of PowerPro

Post by gwg »

As I am close to making a decision to purchase one of the PowerPro options, I would like to read of the Canadian owner perspective of dealing with Shopsmith. I am an original owner of a 1988 model 500 upgraded to a 510 and very convinced of the value of the Shopsmith concept and quality. Having to deal with the Canada / USA border and customs department lends a different perspective than many of the forum reader/responders. Please make any comments of your experience with the PowerPro or Shopsmith from this point of view.

I forgot ... Welcome to the best place on Earth to have information about Shopsmith products and others ...

Would you update your profile so we can see where you are ...

I do not own a power pro. I own a Mark5 upgraded to 520 since 1984 when they had stores in Canada. I bought at the Montreal Store.

Shopsmith does not sell to Canadian directly.

All in One Tools in Mississauga is their representative

You can visit their website at the following address ...
http://allinonewood.com/

You should see their (winter/christmas) flyer when the page comes up and at the bottom of the page select page 4 for their prices on the power pro.
But you should call and speak to them, the prices may have changed since the Canadian $ went down.
If you do not see the flyer click on the name/logo at the left top side beside the red maple leaf.
I wish I was near Toronto, that would make it possible for me to buy an upgraded power pro. But the shipping of it + sales taxes on everything makes it too much for now.
Otherwise you should plan a trip to the states and order it through someone.
There is no more duties on US made product since the 10th anniversary of the trade agreement between US/Canada and Mexico but still at the border you will be charge the sale taxes by the Canadian side.
