I did reposition the brush holder end cap 90 degrees. It was that simple. Thank you all once again for your help!

Re: Pro Planer M5990 Outfeed issue
I love it when the collective intelligence and experience of group of people can come together and help out a guy they've never met, and has far less intelligence in the matters of electricity and motors, and truthfully shouldn't have tackled this project.

Re: Pro Planer M5990 Outfeed issue
The motor was shot when I got it. The magnets had broken loose from the housing, the wiring on the armature was busted up and burned pretty badly. I was careful to re-attach the magnets as they originally were - there were markings that helped with that. I'm also in contact with the company that did ...

The off-set motor shaft coming out of the gearbox? That I checked and witnessed a CLOCKWISE rotation of the shaft - looking directly at the shaft.

Re: Pro Planer M5990 Outfeed issue
Reversed wires on brushes in motor, it still runs the same direction. Since reversing the wires in the motor is done and I really don't want to go through that again, would reversing the wiring in the switch do any good? The knives run the correct direction, the feed motor does not.

Re: Pro Planer M5990 Outfeed issue
The possibility as I see it now, is that I had the feed motor repaired, actually the whole armature was re-wound. The magnets on in the motor had to be re-attached as well. Could the armature have been re-wound backwards, or the magnets not placed correctly?

Re: Pro Planer M5990 Outfeed issue
Wow, so either my machine is running backwards, or someone placed the anti-kickback pawls on the wrong side of the planer!
So then, which is the correct infeed side?

Pro Planer M5990 Outfeed issue
I purchased a used Pro Planer M5990 for $200. It came with other Shopsmith parts, that I didn't need and subsequently sold off. After repairing the feed motor and giving a general check-over, I fired the machine up. The sound of wood on the cutters was beautiful! But then my stock stopped on the ...
