Pro Planer M5990 Outfeed issue
I purchased a used Pro Planer M5990 for $200. It came with other Shopsmith parts, that I didn't need and subsequently sold off. After repairing the feed motor and giving a general check-over, I fired the machine up. The sound of wood on the cutters was beautiful! But then my stock stopped on the outfeed side - caught up in the row of "teeth" that dangle between the roller and spacer bar.
I adjusted the feed table since it was a little off thinking the outfeed end may have been a little higher than infeed. That didn't help.
I've seen other threads where folks posted photos of their planers, and the teeth aren't even present, but I see the mounting holes on the sides of the machine.
What must I adjust to allow my wood stock to feed cleanly through the outfeed side? Are the teeth even necessary?

The dangelley anti-kickback pawls only belong on the infeed side.

Wow, so either my machine is running backwards, or someone placed the anti-kickback pawls on the wrong side of the planer!

The in feed side is the side with the Pro planer label on it. The switch and the feed motor should be on the right. The out feed side has the round SS logo on it and can be opened by releasing two clips. There is no way you can feed stock from the wrong side.

Facing the infeed side:
The table(thickness) height knob/lever is on the left top.
The thickness scale is on the lower right.
The feed motor/hand crank is on the right SIDE.
The SS logo/dust port is on the rear top.
The power switch/feed control is on the right front.
The Mark headstock is to the left of the planer. The planer cutter head is driven by the back end upper shaft of the mark.
I do not see HOW the planer could 'plane' running bass ackwards. Make noise, yes.

All good points. The 5990 as I see it is the MK mount planer. You could feed from the wrong side if the feed motor was not turned on (maybe). Could just the bar with the anti-kickback pawls just be installed backwards?

The possibility as I see it now, is that I had the feed motor repaired, actually the whole armature was re-wound. The magnets on in the motor had to be re-attached as well. Could the armature have been re-wound backwards, or the magnets not placed correctly?
The feed motor moves the stock through, I know this because the variable speed control works beautifully. From all the replies I've received, I think the feed motor is the problem.

Yes if the magnetic polarity is reversed. Assuming nothing else is 'wrong', reversing the two wires going to the brushes will reverse the run direction.
IIRC you also questioned the full wave bridge. It is possible that was connected reversed polarity?
It takes more than a reverse running motor to create the scenario above. The workpiece also needs to be stuck in from the outfeed side. If the cutters were 'planing' then the planer is also mounted backwards on the Mark.(wrong side[quill] of the headstock).
